Description

Martha B is a 35' Bruno & Stillman hard top lobster boat. If you are looking for Downeast or New England pedigree, you just found it. Martha B is a dyed in the wool, yankee built and designed lobster yacht. She is the brainchild of Royal Lowell, a virtual Downeast-built boat rock star. Afficiandos claim they can pick a Royal Lowell designed boat out of any harbor, because of their elegant sheer and impressive bow.

Martha B is a fantastic example of an affordable lobster yacht. She was never used to fish, rather she has spent her recent days crawling the creeks of the Chesapeake Bay.

Martha B has a Cummins 210 HP diesel for power, which runs like a top; engine block heater; reverse cycle AC/heat; seperate Red Dot engine heat for the pilot; Refrigeration; and pressurized H & C on board water system. Her electronics include VHF, Furuno GPS/Chart plotter, and Furuno radar.

As with most Bruno & Stillmans, Martha B has an open cockpit and she has a cockpit steering station. You can drive the boat while your guests sit back and relax on her transom-wide custom teak bench. Martha B has wide sidedecks for trips to the bow. Her helm deck is Teak and this area accommodates a sitting area, navigation seat, and galley. Down the companionway, you will find a teak and holly sole, a sizeable head to port with seperate shower stall, hanging locker to starboard with other storage, and a very comfortable Vee Berth forward.

Engine & Mechanical
Martha B was purchased in 2007 by her current owner. He hired a Cummins mechanic to inspect all aspects of the engine. Roughly, $10,000 was spent restoring and upgrading her engine. She now has an engine block heater for cold morning starts, too! When it comes to marine diesel engines, the Cummins low horsepower engine, like Martha B has, is in high demand. They are very ecomomical to run for long periods of time. These engines are commercially rated for 100,000 hours, with the proper care and maintenance, according to Cummins diesel mechanics.
The previous owner of this vessel purchased her to cruise, and to take him on an ICW journey to Florida, from Oxford, MD. He had the current Cummins engine installed in approximately 1998, because he knew the trip would be far more comfortable and economical with the highly reliable, low horsepower Cummins diesel engine.

Hull and Deck
The Bruno & Stillman 35 was designed by Royal Lowell. She is a "built down" hull type. This means she has a perpendicular line at the turn of her bilge to her keel, very much like a sailboat. Her hull flattens somewhat in the aft stations, but it is minimal in the mid stations. This design is time tested and there is no question why watermen go to sea in this type of boat. She will behave very well in a sloppy sea state and provide a very comfortable ride. The "built down" hull type was made for economical, slower moving vessels that had no need to plane on top of the water. Due to this design, her hull will float in a displacement manner, which means no slapping, no pounding, and great fuel efficiency! If you are interested in this element of hull design, please ask us more. We speak "Downeast!"
