Description

Renshaw is an excellent example of this proven cruiser. For those not familiar with the 33 she is the smaller sister to the Alajuela 38, which is featured in Ferenc Mate's Best Boats to Buy or Build. Alajuelas were built in Huntington Beach, CA and feature excellent attention to detail and robust construction. The Alajuela 33's traditional looks, modified underbody with skeg hung rudder and swift sailing performance set this boat apart from the crowd. It is very rare they come onto the market as owners seldom part with these great boats. Renshaw is unique in that she received a complete refit in 2001/2002 , with over thirty five thousand dollars in upgrades. Every system is new and not a single part of the vessel was left unturned. The Alajuela 33 is at home sailing the bay or setting course for distant shores and should not be overlooked as she awaits her next adventure.

Accommodations
Entering through the companionway one immediately notices the rich teak interior. At the base of the companionway steps and to starboard is a sit down nav. station complete with chart storage and much more. Directly aft of the nav station and also to port of the stairs are two large quarterbeths. The port quarter berth is actually a double and quite comfortable. The quaterberths both have vast amounts of storage underneath. Moving forward the head is located to port with excellent storage, medicine cabinet, stainless steel sink w/ shower, mirror, teak grate and a Wilcox Crittenden Skipper head. To starboard is the galley with deep stainless steel sink, 3 burner stove/oven, refrigeration, hot/cold pressure water, and abundant storage. Continuing forward is the main saloon with two 6'6' settees w/ lee clothes making excellent berths at sea or for guests. Both port and starboard settees feature huge amounts of storage behind and below making provisioning for extended cruising a breeze. A large dining table is located on the centerline with plenty of space for six. Both port and starboard sides of the main saloon feature bookshelves and above each settee are several more cabinets with cane inserts providing ventilated storage. All the way forward is large v-berth with center insert. The v-berth area features shelves with high fiddles on each side, 3 large teak drawers, a hanging locker to port, and once again storage underneath. Eight solid bronze opening ports, two hatches and two large dorades provide incredible ventilation and light. The layout is very comfortable without forgetting the importance of adequate storage.
