"Maggie Anne"
1981 Mainship PH Motor Cruiser
Specifications
Description
The Mainship 40 Pilothouse Sedan is a great boat for a cruising couple. Comfortable, solid, safe and economical to run, it is a tremendous value for a long range trawler.
In production from 1980 to 1984, the Mainship 40 was designed by the renowned John Cherubini, a New Jersey local. There were only about twenty built, so they are somewhat unique. It is built on a semi-displacement planing hull, so you can enjoy a comfortable ride in all types of conditions. With her economical twin Perkins 165 diesels, she can move along at 10 or 11 knots and burn only around 2 gallons an hour or so- or you can open it up and get to a top end of about 15 knots when you need to.
The Mainship 40 has a very attractive trawler style profile and in typical John Cherubini style is very solid, has a nice flare to her bow and high, protective bulwarks forward. There are port and starboard doors into the pilothouse and ladders to the flybridge behind either of those doors as well as from the aft cockpit area. A custom transom door in the cockpit leads out onto the swim platform and a sliding door leads into the saloon.
Topside the flybridge has good visibility and guest seating forward of the helm. The large protected aft deck has tremendous space for entertaining or just relaxing and enjoying the view.
Inside, the large master stateroom and en suite head is forward and down from the pilothouse. Aft of that the single level layout makes for great living aboard. Mainship created a full beam saloon, utilizing the full 14’ to give you the living space of a much larger yacht.
There are few yachts on the market that offer the space, comfort and reliability that Maggie Anne offers at a reasonable price. She has had many upgrades in recent years and certainly presents like a much newer yacht. She has been very tastefully and nicely decorated, with custom window treatments, new Corian countertops, a new galley with side by side stainless steel refrigeration, Ultra leather seating and many other little features that make it feel like home.
If you are looking for a nicely maintained, economical trawler or cruiser “Maggie Anne” is certainly worthy of your personal inspection. She truly is a value that won’t last long. Call to arrange a showing today!
Details 1
Maggie Anne underwent a major refit between 2005 and 2008. During that time, the carpeting, headliner, countertops throughout and old stove were removed. Then a new teak and holly sole was laid, new headliner installed, new cabinetry was installed in the TV/bar area, the other cabinetry was refinished, new countertops and fixtures were installed throughout the vessel, new refrigeration and countertop stove installed as well as many more items as you will see throughout this listing.
Some items do not show the installation year as it was within that overall time frame but we don't know exactly when each thing was installed. For example, the countertops were purchased in 2005 but not installed until much later- though the receipt says 2005, so we have shown it that way.
- Teak and holly cabin sole installed
- Headliner replaced
- Cream colored bead board wall surfaces with wood trim accents
- Louvered cabinet doors
- Blue and white fleck Corian countertops with bullnose edge throughout (05)
- Custom blinds and curtains (05)
Master stateroom: The master stateroom with en suite head is located down three steps and forward from Pilot House. There is a queen size berth with a custom mattress (05) offset to starboard with a hanging locker beneath the berth. Fiddled shelves run the length of the berth on each side, with red oak staving beneath that. In addition, the overhead above the berth is finished in red oak staving. There is another hanging locker, seven drawers and two drop front lockers in the space- plenty of storage. Louvered teak double doors and a dark acrylic hatch separate the stateroom from the Pilot House. Ventilation is provided by two overhead hatches with screens and an opening port. There is a pair of brass reading lights above the berth.
Forward Head: The ensuite forward head is located on starboard. The Corian counter top has a molded-in sink and bull-nosed edge. There are double louvered doors and a shelf above it for storage as well as cabinet space below. The separate stall shower is to the right of the countertop space; the electric head is to the left. Both spaces have teak grate floors. An overhead hatch and opening port provide the ventilation for the space.
Pilot House: The padded bench helm seat (05) offers 180 degree visibility, comfortably seats two and has a full-length foot rest. There is a chart drawer, two other drawers and two drop front storage lockers beneath the helm seat. There are Corian countertops and louvered lockers on either side by the sliding doors leading out onto the side decks. Another Corian countertop is located to the right of the controls, with additional double door storage beneath that. A curtained pass-through opening is on starboard to the saloon; entry to the saloon is on port, also with its own curtain. This, combined with the door on the transom, provides for great ventilation through the boat.
Galley: The galley and saloon area is bright and cheerful and offers great panoramic views. The full-beam space provides more living area than most vessels of this kind. The current owner renovated the spacious galley to feature the 27” deep counters, a new Princess 2-burner flat top range and side by side Isotherm stainless steel refrigeration units. There are multiple drawers and lockers beneath counter space along the hull.
Saloon: The forward end of the saloon features the flat screen TV, liquor locker and blue Corian countertops with numerous louvered door storage spaces. Along the starboard hull is a cream colored Flexsteel Ultra leather sleeper sofa (05) with an end table at the forward end. On port is a Flexsteel Ultra leather dual recliner love seat (05) with a small drop down table and an open shelf space forward.
Day head: There is a day head just inside and on starboard as you enter from the aft cockpit. There is a Corian counter top with an integrally molded sink and a Vac-U-Flush head. There is storage beneath counter top behind 2 louvered doors.
