Description

The Endeavour 40s were in production from 1981 to 1985 and were offered in sloop, cutter and ketch configurations. Our offering, “High Priority”, is hull number 255- built late in production run- and is sloop rigged, with a long fin keel, skeg hung rudder and Perkins engine.

With a comfortable center cockpit layout, wide open decks, 30” high life lines, high bulwarks and beefy construction, the Endeavour 40’ is a sturdy vessel for offshore work. It’s one of those boats that you get on and it just feels solid. The 5’ shoal draft makes it an excellent choice for the East Coast bays, Florida Keys and the Caribbean.

Below decks you will appreciate the private master stateroom with en suite head aft, great saloon and galley spaces, separate nav station, workbench and huge engine room. The spacious guest stateroom and head forward makes the Endeavour 40 a popular choice for the owner who likes to have friends aboard for the weekend or coastal cruise. The drop-leaf dinette will easily seat six and has huge leaves. Both settees pull out to convert to double berths, so there are berths for EIGHT on this boat if you need it!

The interior joinery work is well executed and receives admiring nods whenever someone sees them. Storage space is abundant and well done, with the interiors of the lockers finished as well- one of the many little touches that sets the Endeavour 40 apart from many of her competitors.

All in all, an Endeavour 40 is a great choice for a comfortable live-aboard or offshore cruising at a very affordable price. Spacious and comfortable, safe and secure- they are a lot of boat for the money. A loyal owner’s group exists to provide lots of feedback on these desirable boats. “High Priority” is a clean example of this popular center cockpit cruiser. Her owners have made many upgrades to her recently; due to a recent relocation she is now sadly offered for sale.

Come see your new island escape soon- she could be the vessel that makes your cruising dreams a reality!

Accommodations
  • Teak parquet cabin sole
  • Guest 12v fans in forward & master staterooms, saloon, galley
  • Four hatches with screens
  • Fourteen opening ports with screens
  • Two deck prisms
  • Louvered hanging locker doors

Forward stateroom: The V berth, at 6’6” long and 7’10” wide, is comfortable enough to fit almost anyone. There is bin storage beneath the bunk and three drawers below it. The hull sides are white with teak staving; along either side is a teak fiddled shelf. On the port side is a hanging locker with a shelf above it. On starboard is the private entrance to the head. Headroom in here is 6’2”.

Forward head: The forward head has six foot headroom and can be entered from the forward stateroom or from the saloon. The countertop and sink cabinet assembly is of molded fiberglass for easy wipe-down. The sink is to the left and has storage beneath it and a mirrored medicine cabinet above it. The head is to the right of the sink and has countertop above and behind it, with a fiddled shelf above that.

Saloon: Moving aft into the saloon, there is a hanging locker with a countertop above it; a bottle storage rack is above the counter. Aft is a 6’6” long straight settee, which can pull out to convert to a double berth. There is drawer storage the length of the settee beneath it, storage behind it and a shelf above that. Above the shelf is a pair of double-door lockers and a fiddled bookshelf in between them. An identical settee configuration is across from this on port, with a huge centerline drop-leaf table between them. The table will easily seat 6 and has plenty of room to spare in the middle for serving dishes. There are drawers on one end for silverware and such and storage in the center of the table as well. The entire saloon/nav/galley area is exceptionally well ventilated (as all Endeavours are) with nine opening ports and two hatches.

Nav station and corridor: The nav station is located on starboard just aft of the settee and is forward facing. The chart table is sloped for comfort and has storage below it. Forward and below it are tubes for charts and drawers. There is also storage beneath the seat and a fiddled shelf along the hull side. The electrical panel is directly across the corridor from the nav seat. Behind the nav seat and continuing down the corridor are a hanging locker and then a workbench area. There are double doors beneath the workbench, while above both there is a large shelf. There are large double doors across from that for access to the engine room.

Galley: Stepping down in to the U-shaped galley from the saloon on port, the deep double sink is facing towards the saloon. There is a storage cabinet beneath that. Along the hull side is the 3-burner stove with a laminate countertop cover. Next aft of that are two drawers and a tip-out bin. Above all of this are spice racks, dish and cup organizer compartments and then a double door locker with shelves. The top-loading refrigerated ice box is wrapped around behind the drawers and oven as the back part of the U.  There is also another double door locker on the bulkhead beneath the cockpit sole.

Aft stateroom: As you enter the master stateroom. There is a hanging locker and stack of three drawers on your left, with a shelf space above that. Below the drawers is a dressing seat, which has storage beneath it. Headroom back here is 6’3”. The master berth is 52” x 78” and oriented athwart ship. Currently there is no mattress in place; the owners were ready to replace it but, given everyone’s individual tastes in mattresses, decided it made more sense to let the next owners pick what they liked. There is a built in step to make it easier getting in and out of the bunk; the top of that opens for storage below. There are two drawers on the face of the bunk, storage beneath the bunk and a space along the transom with a shelf the length of it and storage beneath that shelf. This whole space is very well illuminated and ventilated, with a pair of reading lights, four opening ports, a fan, an overhead hatch and two deck prisms. On the aft end of the engine compartment bulkhead is a full length teak framed dressing mirror.

Master head: Located in the master stateroom, the head is located on port. There is 6’ headroom in this space. The countertop and sink cabinet assembly is of molded fiberglass for easy wipe-down. The sink is to the left and has storage beneath it and a mirrored medicine cabinet above it. The head is to the right of the sink and has countertop above and behind it, with a fiddled shelf above that. Ventilation is provided by a solar vent and an opening port.
