Description

This is a very nice example of a very sought after boat. The Canadian-built Nonsuch 26 cat boat has a fin keel, spade rudder and keel stepped mast. The mainsail, set on a track with slides, is easily set, reefed, furled and controlled by one person from the cockpit. Her large cockpit with a deep coaming and high cambered coach roof allows lots of space on deck and below. This boat is a breeze to single hand and very comfortably sleeps four for the weekend or on a weeks cruise.

Accommodations
This boat has the Classic layout. The Nonsuch 26 has 6'1" standing headroom. There is a varnished teak and holly sole, full molded headliner with removable panels aft for access to the deck hardware and fastenings. The teak bulkheads and joiner work are satin varnished. A wraparound teak grab rail surrounds the interior.

The forward cabin has two 6'4" settee berths with 5-inch tufted fabric cushions and removable backrest cushions. The port settee has a drop-front backrest with stowage behind it and converts to a pull-out double bunk. The starboard settee has stowage behind the backrest. There is a storage locker at the forward end of each settee and a full-length shelf outboard, with teak battens lining the hull sides. The cabin also has a large teak drop-leaf table with storage inside. Forward of the settees is a teak bulkhead with a louvered door to a large hanging locker in the center and a large shelved storage locker on each side. Ventilation and lighting for this space is provided by an overhead hatch, three opening ports, four reading lights and one overhead light.

The forward cabin can be separated from the rest of the space by means of a bi-fold door and a sliding panel, which raises between this area and the galley. The panel can be closed off completely or set in a position several inches down to allow for air circulation.

Just aft of the port settee is a large galley with a two-burner stove, large icebox and stainless steel sink. There is plenty of storage in the galley including two drawers and four large lockers. An opening port is located over the stove to provide ventilation and lighting is overhead.

Across from the galley is the forward facing head. There is a counter top with a large mirror above, a sink and storage below. Along the hull is a large hanging locker and a cabinet. An opening port and a dorade vent provide ventilation.

On the port side, aft of the galley, is a 6'3" single quarter berth with a full length stowage bin and shelf outboard. On the starboard side, aft of the head, is a wide 6'3" quarter berth with full length fiddled shelf above and outboard, over the starboard berth is a stowable panel for charting or additional counter top space. Both of these berths have an opening port that opens into the cockpit well for ventilation and a brass reading light.

The teak companionway steps are mounted on a large removable panel for access to the engine. Smaller engine access panels are inboard of each quarter berth.
