Description

"Blue Charm" is a remarkably well found and maintained Hood 38 with the preferable MKII layout giving two private cabins. The design is from America's Cup Skipper Ted Hood, the build is from Henri Wauquiez, and this particular boat benefits from a recent restoration that makes her a turn-key and capable coastal to bluewater cruising vessel. "Blue Charm" deserves a close inspection!

Accommodations
This after cockpit layout begins with a large V-berth stateroom forward. This stateroom has a large sized hanging locker as well as other storage. The head compartment is next aft to starboard and has a marine head, vanity, sink with H/C pressure water and shower. Another hanging locker is opposite. This brings you to the spacious main salon with a U-shaped dinette to starboard which converts to a double berth when necessary. A straight settee/berth and a pilot berth to port sleep two more guests or crew. The nav table is also to port and uses the end of the settee as a seat. This saloon is bright and airy due to the large overhead hatch, bright white fiberglass headliner and the 6'8" headroom. The galley is tucked in the aft port quarter. Back to starboard you'll find the quarter cabin with ensuite sink and vanity. This interior joinery is in very nice condition and finished with a hand rubbed satin.

Hull&Deck
If you are looking for a stout cruising boat with a good pedigree, come see Blue Charm. This was a collaboration of Ted Hood's architecture and Henri Wauquiez's boatbuilding. The result compares favorably with any of the US production boats of the same era. The original gelcoat continues to compound/buff/wax up to a remarkable shine. The bottom was barrier coated in '05. The interior recesses of the boat are all coated with gelcoat so there are no rough edges and the bilge is easily kept free of oil and grease. The hull to deck joint and the bulkhead tabbing are evidence of construction that is meant to last. It is rare to discover interior leaks or degradation to the yacht interior of a Wauquiez.
