Description
Robust, fast, practical, and beautiful all aptly describe this Pilot House cruising cutter. The Sceptre 41's were built on a semi-custom basis in Vancouver,B.C. to a design by Dutchman Heinz Driehuyzen by Sceptre Yachts Ltd. from 1982 to 1993, fifty-three hulls being built in total.
This example, named "Sea Bright", was commissioned for mid-west sailor's who only sailed her seasonally (about four months/year) in fresh water. The current owner purchased the boat in 2001 and shipped her to a near freshwater estuary in the northern Chesapeake Bay. She has been south to the Bahamas for one winter.
Experienced cruising sailor's will appreciate the hull and deck tooling, the GRP finish, modified fin-keel w/ protected rudder/prop, and the copious amount of storage for cruising gear, provisions, and cruising spares. Many spares are stored new in the box! Sailing photo is of a sister ship!

Hull&Deck
Overview: The hull is White Awlgrip and polishes up nicely with a product like Awl-Care. This requires no compounding/buffing/waxing. The decks were tooled with a GRP non-skid. No teak overlay! The hull is a hand-laid solid GRP layup and reinforced by a substantial stringer system. Systems are well engineered and installed to facilitate maintenance while cruising. The deck is bolted and bonded to an inward-turning GRP flange on 5" centers.
As is the case with numerous cruising boats, the seller reports that the "all up go cruising weight" is significantly greater than the designed displacement.
