Description

The Island Packet 32 Cutter is a proven bluewater cruiser that is a ruggedly built and offers an exceptionally comfortable layout for her size. First introduced in 1989, there were 120 built before they stopped production in 1996. Our offering, ELYSIUM, is hull number 114 and was built in 1996.

The Island Packet 32 evolved from the very successful Island Packet 31. ELYSIUM has an additional bonus in that she is a rare centerboard model, allowing you to explore even further into skinny waters.

Like the 31, she has a luxuriously comfortable and safe interior. Capable of sleeping 7, the IP 32 has an amazingly spacious interior for a 32’ boat. I’m not aware of any other 32’ sailboat with this sort of interior living space. Design features such as eleven opening ports, five overhead hatches, great headroom and Island Packet’s signature bulkhead-mounted table with storage behind enhance the bright and airy feeling of the interior space. Typical of Island Packet Yachts, the interior joinery and overall quality is to the highest of standards.

Island Packet has been the premier cruisers' choice for capable, safe, sea kindly, offshore bluewater yachts since their beginning in 1980.

Combining the classic good looks, exacting craftsmanship, and reliability, the IP32 is an unequaled choice for the knowledgeable cruising sailor. She is in excellent condition and certainly capable of taking you anywhere your heart desires.

Her owners have made numerous significant improvements in recent years, such as:

  • Hot water heater replaced– 2023
  • Running rigging replaced – 2021
  • Standing rigging replaced – 2021
  • Electrical wiring in mast and lighting replaced (anchor and steaming) with LED – 2021
  • Cockpit cushions new in 2017
  • Jib and Staysail (Elvstrom) new in 2017
  • Primary Lewmar hatch lens replacements (3 largest) – 2021
  • Engine room sound insulation replaced – 2022
  • Bottom painted spring 2023

This Island Packet 32 is the perfect size for both beginner and experienced sailors who are looking for a good bluewater cruiser with the feel of a much larger boat! Clean boats like this don’t last long, so call now and arrange a private showing! She’s in the water and ready to go!

Accommodations

Master stateroom:Starting in the forward stateroom, the chain locker is forward, with a louvered door for access. The berth is 6’4” long, 21” wide at the bow and 6’9” at the aft end, with a removable center insert. There are two cedar lined drawers in the center and a louvered door locker on either side beneath the bunk, as well as storage beneath the entire berth forward of that.

Fiddled shelves line the hull sides, with a double-doored, cedar lined hanging locker aft on the starboard side, a shelf above that and a drop-door cubby above the shelf. On port is the ensuite entry to the head.A bi-fold door closes the cabin off from the rest of the boat when wanted. Headroom in here is 6’4”. There is an overhead hatch and two opening ports for ventilation, with three reading lights for additional light.

Head: The head is located on port and has entry from the salon and the forward stateroom. There is 6’3” headroom, so plenty of room for most and unusual in a 32’ boat.As you enter from the salon, the counter and sink are on your left and the toilet is straight ahead. There is locker space beneath the sink and a large teak framed mirror above it. Above and behind the toilet is an open shelf space and then closed storage above that with sliding door access. The shower head is wall mounted on a bar to the right of the head and has separate water mixer controls. Light and ventilation is from two under counter lights, an opening hatch and an opening port.

Salon: Across from the head is another cedar lined hanging locker with shelf storage above and another drop-door locker above that. Aft of that is a straight 6’5” long settee which makes for a great sea berth. There is storage the length of the berth, both below and behind it. There is also a chart drawer for paper charts or chart books. On port is an L-shaped settee that is 6’5” long and can easily convert to a 42” wide berth. This too has storage beneath and behind the berth.

Above and behind both settees is a fiddled shelf, with sliding door lockers on either end and a fiddled bookshelf between them.

The bulkhead mounted dinette table has bottle and shelf storage behind it. The table can drop down and provide plenty of space for three people to eat, or you can open it up, doubling the table space and seating several more on the starboard side.

Headroom in the salon is 6’5”; there are four wall lights, two Dorado vents, an overhead hatch and five opening ports in this space.

Galley:The large, U-shaped is located on starboard at the base of the companionway. The non-skid cabin sole makes for safe footing in a seaway as well as if the floor gets wet. Under the cabin sole is a huge dry storage bin. The deep double sinks are oriented towards centerline and facing forward. Beneath the sink is a cabinet with shelves, while to the left of the sink is a tip-out trash bin. To the right of the sink is a top loading dry bin.

Moving around along the hull side is the stove and oven. Beneath it is a nice stowage space for pots and pans; above and along the hull is shelf space with sliding doors the length of the countertop.

Aft of the stove and coming around back to the companionway is a huge 12 cubic foottop loading icebox with refrigeration. Above and behind that counter space is an organizer space for dishwater, utensils and cutlery.

Headroom in the galley is 6’2”; lighting and ventilation are from two wall mounted lights, an overhead hatch and an opening port.

Nav station: At the base of the companionway on port is the nav station, which is integrated with the aft cabin and oriented looking forward into the salon. The cabin sole is a continuation of galley and companionway nonskid, so coming below to sit at the nav in wet gear isn’t an issue. The nav table stows against the forward bulkhead and flips up when needed, but otherwise provides good standing room access to the back berth. Electronics and the electrical panel are along the hull side.

Aft stateroom:The aft stateroom is on port, with the open entryway into the space and a partial height wall on the forward end where the nav table is mounted. This keeps the entire salon and cabin area much more open feeling, but can be closed off with a privacy curtain when desired. The berth is 6’6” long, 6’ wide at the shoulders and 38” at the foot. There are two drawers with a shelf above and a continuous shelfalong the hull. There is another small locker below the berth. Lighting back here is from two wall lamps, two opening ports and an overhead hatch; headroom is 6’2”.
