Description

First introduced in 1994, the Tartan 3500 is considered an ideal size for a family cruising boat with her open interior layout, wide side decks and of course her outstanding performance. Besides being easily sailed, responsive, and well-mannered, she has had success in a number of fleets across the country.

The Tim Jackett designed Tartan 3500 is an excellent sailing machine. Her moderate beam and full ends, coupled with the shoal draft beavertail keel, provide excellent stability and sail carrying ability. The balanced spade rudder provides for fingertip control and excellent maneuverability, whether under sail or power. With a long waterline, low wetted surface and powerful rig, the Tartan 3500’s inherent speed is within reach of both the cruiser and club racer, offering fast passages and competitive race performance.

The Tartan 3500 deck is designed to maximize comfort, safety and function. Wide side decks and shrouds set inboard afford easy passage fore and aft and allow tight sheeting angles for upwind sailing performance.

Commissioned in 1999, our offering offers attractive traditional styling, excellent performance, surprisingly large accommodations and the quality construction and finish that have earned Tartan the reputation they have enjoyed for many years.

In addition to the very comfortable accommodations below decks, the thirteen opening ports, two dorades and two large deck hatches offer plenty of air when at the dock or at anchor.

"JEDI”, hull number 91 of around 140, has served her caring owners well. They are now ready to pass her stewardship along as they move on to new adventures.

The Tartan 3500 is a great choice for sailors looking for a performance-oriented family cruiser. Rarely, at thirty-five feet, can one find two comfortable staterooms, a wonderful salon, a workable galley, and head with a separate stall shower.

If you are contemplating a new boat in this size range, the Tartan 3500 is a great option. Call for an appointment to see her today!

Accommodations

Forward stateroom:  The forward stateroom is separated from the salon by a bifold door.  There is also a louvered folding window panel that can be opened for better ventilation or closed for privacy as desired.  The 76”x 20” x 84” berth has four drawers below it as well as storage areas beneath the cushions.  Opposing cedar-lined lockers are on either side at the head of the berth.  The starboard locker has shelves and the port hanging storage; both lockers have fiddled shelves above them.  Additionally, there are fiddled shelves on either side above the berth. Lighting and ventilation are provided by two reading lamps, two overhead lamps, two opening portholes and an overhead hatch. Headroom is 5’11”.

Head:  The head is at the base of the companionway on port.  As you enter the sink is directly ahead of you and has a locker beneath it.  Above and behind the counter are shelves with mirrored sliding doors. The manual head is to the left of the sink and the separate stall shower is to the right. There is a molded fiberglass shower seat with storage beneath and above it. Lighting and ventilation are provided by two overhead lights, a Dorade vent and two opening ports. The headroom in here is 5’11”.

Saloon:  There is a drop-leaf table on centerline, with drawer storage on one end and storage beneath the top.  When both leaves are up, it will comfortably seat five.  On port, the 6’2” long settee can serve nicely as a single berth. There is storage behind the berth as well as some beneath it.  Above and behind the settee is a tall locker with shelves at the aft end, a shorter locker forward of that and a fiddled shelf forward of that.  On starboard is an L-shaped settee that is 6’1” long.  There is storage beneath and behind this area as well.  Above and behind is a fiddled shelf area.  Above the shelf are two lockers, one with a shelf and one for bottle storage; forward of those is an open shelf with a fiddle.  There are grab rails on either side of the saloon.  Lighting and ventilation are provided by four overhead lights, two reading lights, an overhead hatch and four opening ports.  The headroom in here is 6’.

Nav station: The nav station is on starboard and aft of the galley.  Aft facing, there is plenty of space for a chartbook and plenty of storage beneath the chart table.  The cushioned nav seat has storage beneath it.  There is a shelf as well as a locker outboard and an opening port to the cockpit for easy communication with the helmswoman.  The instruments and electrical panels are directly in front of you and hinged for easy access and service.

Galley: The galley is located on port at the base of the companionway, with a large, deep sink oriented towards centerline.  There is storage beneath the sink; to the right of that is the icebox, which has top and front access.  Above that is a deep double door locker with shelves.  Continuing around along the hull is the 3-burner stove.  There is storage beneath the stove for pots and pans. To the right of the stove is another counter space, with a trash bin conveniently hidden below the counter.  There is a locker with shelves beneath the counter and three utensil drawers above it.  Lighting and ventilation are provided by two overhead lights, two opening ports and an overhead Dorade. The headroom in the galley area is 6’.

Aft stateroom:  Entry to the aft stateroom is via a bi-fold door that stows nicely out of the way when not in use.  As you enter, there is a cedar-lined hanging locker to your right with a fiddled shelf above. Additionally, there is a fiddled shelf that runs along the hullside. The spacious berth is 78”x 67”x 46”. There is storage beneath the berth and another shelf area above the engine box. Lighting and ventilation are provided by an overhead light, a reading light and two opening ports.  Headroom is 5’11”.
