INTRODUCTION

We brokers see a lot of boats.  Everyone has their own idea what 'great condition' might mean.  This Beneteau 361 is in amazing shape for her vintage and has very clearly been lovingly cared for by her original owner since new.  Kept right here on the middle Chesapeake her entire life, she has only seen very light, mostly day, use.  Her systems have been thoughly maintained and updated over the last eighteen years.  She has been on the same creek since new.

Once you step aboard and dig into her nooks and crannies, you'll be super impressed with the level of maintenance and the thoughtful design.  She has all the basics:  in-mast furling main, furling headsail, all lines led aft for single handed sailing, nice electronics package, comfortable cockpit and living spaces below, reverse cycle AC/heat, a huge fridge for this size yacht, and lots of storage where you need it.

DAVE & ERIN'S RATING

We know when we travel with clients FAR out of town for yachts, we don’t like surprises when we get there. It’s embarrassing for us and can make for an expensive trip. With that in mind, we'd like to share our rating of the various systems on the boat so you’ll be as informed as possible before you come for a visit. Our rating system is on a 1-10 scale with 10 being ‘excellent’ (in OUR opinion). Please view this list as a GUIDE only. Everyone’s idea of good and bad can vary quite a bit. Our goal in doing this is to help you reach a comfort level with the boat before you invest time and energy to come and see it. We’ll summarize by saying that this seems to be a well preserved yacht worthy of your serious consideration.

OVERALL RATING: 9.25/10

We seriously spent quite a while looking for blemishes. The bilges are clean. The teak and upholstery are in outstanding shape. The cockpit is great for entertaining with the added rail seating. The cockpit layout makes for easy single-handing. All ship’s systems appear to be in excellent working order and have help up extraordinarily well for this vintage yacht.

EXTERIOR RATING: 9.0/10

The rig and sails are all in great shape.  Sails were serviced in 2015 and 2017 with just regular maintenance, some restitching of UV exposed thread.  The boat was freshly bottom painted and hull compounded and waxed in September 2018.  The cockpit teak is freshly oiled and is in excellent condition.  The green sunbrella dodger and bimini are original so they've faded in the sun a bit.  They have been removed every season and properly stored at the owner's home to help them last.  Stitching is all looking good.  The stratoglass in the dodger is still easy to see through, proof that this original dodger has been lovingly preserved since 2001.

ELECTRONICS & GEAR RATING: 9.5/10

Everything the boat has seems to be in good working order. Ready to go with a full suite of electronics at the helm including a Raymarine RC320 at the helm and a color C80 plotter down below.  The ST4000+ autopilot is well overrated for the displacement of this boat.

INTERIOR RATING: 9.5/10

This yacht has only seen light use with mostly day sailing so the interior shows extremely well.  The 16K BTU reverse cycle AC/Heating system serves all three living spaces.

ENGINE & PROPULSION RATING: 9.5/10

Regular oil changes and a spotless engine room. Hoses look good. No corrosion on engine or mounts.  A minor amount of belt dust on the alternator and surrounding gear.  Super low hours at 486 to date.

SAILS & RIG RATING: 8.5/10

Sails are original but have been very lightly used and serviced regularly (2015 and 2017).  Some of the running rigging is getting a bit stiff and should be replaced.
