Bob Perry was handed the challenge to to design a 35 foot offshore cruiser with the acceleration of his famed Saga 43'. He did it. Moderately narrow in beam and displacement, the hull is undistorted with a broad powerful stern and gently rising aft run to encourage surfing and planing. It is decidedly not a "racer/cruiser." Instead the Saga 35 is "purposed designed" for short-handed sailing with only a typical couple as crew. The latest in modern sail management gear is provided for easy handling. The interior is complete, comfortable and understated - a paragon of practicality which you will find excellently adapted, both to extended living aboard and while voyaging.

You will be hard pressed to find a better and more modern cruising vessel. For more information on this Saga 35 contact us now.

Sails and Rigging

VARIABLE GEOMETRY RIG (tm)
Some pre conceived notions about conventional sloops or cutters may need to be rethought in order to fully understand the SAGA VG RIG. It is not a cutter! Nor is it an ordinary sloop. The two head sails are never actually in use at the same time. The rig is generously proportioned so that an overlapping headsail is not necessary when sailing close-hauled, even in light air.
The custom foredeck jib traveler track, and a single jib sheet led aft, handles the roller furling self-tending up wind jib. Tacking is reduced to a simple turn of the wheel. On a reach, the genoa is deployed to add power and the jib is furled. The resultant shift in the center of sail pressure forward aids in maintaining a light helm pressure, even under pressing conditions. Broad reaching, an asymmetrical spinnaker can be flown from the bowsprit without added complexities of a p
ole.
