The retired couple who have owned and enjoyed Southern Lady for the past 15 years have decided it’s time to move on with other plans. They are very anxious to sell her this fall.
In a departure from Carver’s history of conservative styling, this 396 Aft Cabin Motor Yacht, SOUTHERN LADY, is a scaled-down version of Carver’s 506MY with the same tiered elliptical cabin windows, high freeboard, and Euro styling. On the inside, however there is a stunning display of interior volume unmatched in a boat this size. The salon – easily the most impressive aspect – is immense with a panoramic outside view and about 7 feet of headroom. The full beam salon configuration is made possible by raising the walk-around side decks to eye level. The master stateroom has a walk-around queen athwartship berth, and both heads have stall showers. SOUTHERN LADY also has the highly desirable dinette floorplan. Wing doors, wrap-around strata glass windows and a hardtop protect the aft deck from the elements; a molded stairway leads to twin swim platforms and there’s seating for a small crowd on the flybridge. The rugged (low hours) twin 370hp Volvo diesels will cruise at 18 knots (21 knots max).

The updated raised walkdeck design has allowed design changes that give the Carver 396 Motor Yacht a wider cabin - much roomier than one would expect. Adding to its appeal, the cabin living space has been combined into a spacious, open "great room" with plenty of salon seating and space for all sorts of extra amenities, like an end table, TV, and VCR. Two luxurious staterooms and two head compartments provide welcome privacy - with separate/dedicated shower stalls. Superb entertainment possibilities can be found everywhere, from the spacious cabin to the roomy bridge with its wetbar and L-shaped lounge - and the aft deck is no exception. Its integral bridge stairway and side deck wing doors provide convenient access, and the integral boarding platform with aft deck stairway and retractable boarding ladder make boarding easier.
