Description

The Hunter Marine 386 is an evolutionary boat that comes from the finest of innovation and greatest consumer input Hunter has ever had. One of the most popular Hunter models ever, the Hunter 386 is known for its versatility, stability, and desirability. Simply put, outstanding comfort, convenience and livability is what this Hunter 386 cruising sailboat is all about. The Hunter 386 can accommodate a growing family or cruise 2 couples in comfort.

With an autopilot and furling mainsail, she is a breeze to single hand. The small jib is easy to tack and furl while the stainless arch keeps the mainsheet up and out of the way. By bringing the coaming area out to the gunnels, Hunter has increased the overall space to incredible proportions to include seating for eight, plus her additional stern rail seats. A custom console with folding table leaves is perfect for those alfresco meals.

Below deck, abundant natural light streams in from the Hunter signature windshield as well as the many fixed and screened ports; not to mention the multiple overhead hatches, which also admit a tremendous amount of fresh air. At anchor or at the dock, the placement of the ports assures you of great ventilation, and obviously, the reverse cycle air and heat is a much desired feature choice for your cruising comfort. Entertaining or handling the family is easy with the enlarged salon complete with a convertible dinette and facing settee. Storage is plentiful as is electronic space at the integrated nav-station. A Corian® covered, full-service galley comes complete right down to the dishware and any chef will adore the side-by-side ice boxes and top-loading trash bin set each side of the double basin, stainless sink.

“CALLISTO” is very nicely equipped and ready to set sail in comfort and style! Some of the features that make her an attractive and smart choice are:

  • Yanmar 40 HP engine with low (only 691!) hours
  • VariProp 3-blade feathering propeller
  • Lewmar folding helm wheel
  • In-mast furling mainsail
  • Asymmetrical spinnaker
  • Raymarine electronics suite completely updated in 2020!
  • Reverse cycle heat/air conditioning
  • LED interior lighting
  • Adler Barbour 12v refrigerator/freezer
  • Zodiac 8’ roll-up dinghy

Take the time to compare the innovations, comfort, and performance with the others and then compare the value. I know you'll be impressed with this very clean, well maintained lightly used Hunter 386.

Accommodations

Guest stateroom:  Starting forward, the V berth is 6’6” long, 6’2” wise and 16” wide at the foot. There is cubby storage beneath the berth and storage beneath the berth forward. On starboard is a vanity, with a sink, a mirrored front medicine cabinet above it and a locker beneath. On the port side is a cedar-lined hanging locker with a fiddled shelf above. There is a bi-fold louvered window between the saloon and this cabin that can be opened for a more spacious feel and better air flow through the boat if desired. Headroom in here is 6’1”. Lighting and ventilation are provided by a pair of LED overhead lights, a Hella fan and an overhead hatch

Saloon:  Moving aft into the saloon and on port, there is a 6’4” settee. Beneath it are the house batteries and storage. The center cushion can be lowered to form a center table for an armrest, drinks, etc.  There is storage and bottle storage behind the table. Above and behind the settee are cubby bins, with lockers on either end and a fiddled shelf and fixed hull side light between them. A magazine rack is at the forward end of the settee.

On starboard, the dinette is U-shaped and can seat four easily and six quite comfortably with the leaf up. The high gloss table has storage inside and can lower to make a great 6’10” x 55” berth when desired. Beneath the dinette are vessel systems and storage. Above and behind the settee along the hull side is cubby storage, with three lockers, a fiddled shelf, and another hull side fixed light between the lockers.

Lighting and ventilation in the saloon and nav areas are provided by the two fixed hull side lights, two fixed house side lights, to fixed overhead lights and two opening hatches. Additionally, there are five overhead LED lights, two Hella fans and two reading lights. Headroom in here is 6’4”.

Nav station:  The nav station is aft facing on port and utilizes the aft end of the settee for a seat. There is a large chart table with lots of storage inside. Above the table are the electrical and electronics panels, with fiddled shelves above and a map light. Headroom here is 6’4”.

Galley:  The L-shaped galley is at the base of the companionway on starboard and has 6’3” headroom. The entire space is great and with loads of counter space with nice, substantial handholds that are sculpted for comfort. Starting towards centerline, the counterspace has a top-loading rubbish bin, with access on the end for swapping out the bags. On the aft end is a locker with shelves. Moving to the right is a large double sink, with double-door access to storage beneath that. Above the sink and counter space here is a fiddled dish organizer shelf, with organizer pins to customize it to your liking.

Moving around onto the hull side are gas-assist lids to access the separate freezer and refrigeration compartments. To the right is more counter space adjacent to the stove; below that counter is a stack of four drawers. The stove is next and has pots and pans storage beneath it.

Along the hull side and behind the counter are molded organizer bins. Above those are the built-in microwave, three large lockers with drop-down doors and a fiddled shelf above those.

Ventilation and lighting in the galley area is good, with two overhead hatches, one fixed and one opening port and two overhead LED lights.

Head:  The head is on port at the base of the companionway. There is entry from both the saloon and master stateroom. As you enter from the saloon, the countertop and sink are directly ahead of you. There is a top loading hamper in the counter, double door locker storage beneath and a drop-down mirrored medicine cabinet above it.

Moving aft, the shower area also has the head and a large fiberglass shower seat. The shower wand makes keeping this space clean simple! Lighting and ventilation come from one fixed light, one opening port, two overhead hatches and two overhead lights. Headroom in here is 6’4”.

Aft stateroom:  The master stateroom is aft and has dual entry from behind the galley and through the head. Headroom on either side is 6’5”. The berth is a full queen size and oriented athwartship. As you enter on starboard, there is a locker with cedar lined hanging space on one side and shelves on the other. Above is a fiddled shelf. The locker at the entry from the head is cedar lined hanging space.

There is a padded headboard at the head of the bed on starboard, with cubby storage along the hull behind it. At the foot of the bed there are two drop-front lockers with shelf space above and a lounge seat. Along the transom is a fiddled shelf the length of the bunk, with cubby storage beneath it.

Between the entry points is a mirror and shelf. Lighting and ventilation are good, with four fixed hull side lights, two opening ports, two hatches, a Hella fan and five overhead LED lights.
