Description

Borrowing heavily from the ideas of Hunter owners, dealers and prospective customers, the popular Hunter 36 represents the end collaboration of enthusiast feedback, brought to life by the hands and minds of Hunter engineers. The extra wide beam spans nearly the entire length of the boat to maximize both topside and interior accommodations. A large sail locker easily stores gear, while the generously proportioned cockpit features a Lewmar® steering system, fold-up tables and plenty of room for relaxation.

Whether you are ready to set sail for the islands or just around the buoys, the Hunter 36 can really make a difference. Starting with the tall, fractional rig, which is a direct descendant of the B&R rig that powered Hunter's Child to a second place finish in the recent BOC, Hunter has engineered the mast to carry less weight aloft with smaller sections. This is accomplished by utilizing swept-back spreaders and reverse diagonals as well as mast support struts. This combination provides superior strength without a backstay and increases the stability at the same time. Hunter has eased the effort in sail handling and allowed for real versatility for all wind and sea conditions. Your benefit: better performance with less effort.

The deck layout reflects the innovation that accompanies the rig. An integrated arch protects the cockpit from snapping main sheets and blistering sun with the optional bimini. This arch keeps the cockpit clear and open. A custom console stands ready with the standard VHF and instruments. Single lever control and fold down table along with engine instrumentation complete the command station. The swim platform and walk through transom complete with shower and folding ladder are perfect for water sports or for boarding the tender. Storage is everywhere you look and the non-skid is absolutely first-rate.

Comfort is truly important aboard whether for a week or a year, so Hunter has created an interior that not only looks good, but works for you as well. Two private, large staterooms along with an enormous head with shower and a salon that can seat eight plus a gourmet galley will keep all the crew happy.

If you're looking for big boat comfort in a mid-size package and performance is important, then the Hunter 36 could be your answer. Our offering, "Marcella B. Lane", is a well cared for example of the Hunter 36 and is certainly worthy of your inspection.

Accommodations
Forward stateroom: Starting in the forward stateroom, there is a large berth, with double door storage beneath the berth. Shelves line both sides of the cabin, with cedar lined lockers on the aft end of each shelf. The door to this cabin is bi-fold and stows neatly out of the way; a louvered window allows ventilation flow when closed or can be opened to make both the saloon and forward stateroom more open. The large overhead hatch provides plenty of ventilation and light. In addition, there are two overhead lights and two berth reading lights.

Saloon: Moving aft into the saloon, there is a U-shaped dinette settee on the starboard side of the cabin. There is storage beneath and behind the settee. Behind the settee is double shelf storage with locker storage on either end and a fixed port in the hull side. The dinette table converts to make a double berth for additional guests. On the port side of the saloon there is a straight settee. This also has storage beneath and behind it as well as the shelves, lockers and fixed port that were on starboard. The flat screen is on the forward bulkhead on this side; the aft end of the settee serves as the nav station seat.

Nav station: The nav station is aft facing and has a chart table that easily accommodates chart books. Behind that are two large cubby bins that are great for storing hand held radios, binoculars, etc. All of the electrical and electronic instruments are within easy reach and there is more shelf storage above. Aft of the seat is the upright freezer.

Galley: Located on starboard and aft of the dinette, the galley is L-shaped and boasts loads of counter space. The under counter refrigerator is front opening, giving you counter space you are constantly uncovering while preparing meals to get into a top loading box. Along the hull is a built in microwave, a set of drawers for utensils and a glass-doored dishware cabinet with dish organizers. Shelf space is located above all of this and additional storage is in a dry bin in the counter top as well as under the sink and below the stove. A trash bin is also hidden beneath the Corian counter top.

The overall saloon and galley areas are illuminated and ventilated by six large fixed lights, two small fixed lights, an overhead hatch, a dorade vent, two Hella fans and a number of overhead and reading lights.

Master stateroom: The master stateroom is located aft and is entered via a door at the back of the galley. The queen size berth is oriented athwart ship and has a padded headboard. A full length shelf runs along the aft end of the berth a pair of nightstand type surfaces are located on either side of the headboard. Additionally, there is storage behind the headboard. A cedar lined hanging locker and a cubby provide additional storage. There is an overhead hatch, an opening port, one fixed port and numerous lights for this space.

Head: The head is located at the base of the companionway on port. The spaces feature antibacterial gel coat surfaces and a Corian counter top. The entry space has a sink with a drop down mirrored medicine cabinet above it and double door storage below. There is an opening port above the medicine cabinet and several lights. The shower and toilet area is aft of this space and separated by a glass door. There is another opening port in here and a large wet locker with shelf and hanging storage.
