Accommodations

Master Cabin: The island master berth mattress is 6’ 4” x 55” and has an Ultraleather padded headboard and bed frame with two self-closing drawers beneath it. Along the hullsides there is solid cherry staving lining the hullsides near the head of the bed. There are double-doored lockers on either side aft of the staving, with tall lockers on either side aft of that; the port side for hanging storage and the starboard having shelves. Both tall lockers are lighted with door micro switches. Above the lockers on either side is a contoured cherry shelf with continuous fiddles. The space is well lit and ventilated, with a pair of reading lights, six overhead lights, two opening ports with shades and an overhead hatch with an OceanAir screen/shade.

Galley: The U-shaped galley is located below and on port. Bullnose edged Corian countertops and backsplashes provide a clean, elegant look with lots of workspace. There are flush counter inserts for the cooktop and freezer. The rectangular sink is aft and toward centerline, with a single lever faucet and pull-out spray wand. There is a locker beneath the sink.

Continuing around along the hullside, there is a top-loading freezer outboard of the sink. Moving forward is the cooktop; beneath that is a pull-out drawer refrigerator unit. The forward end of the galley features a peninsula top with a unique pull-out storage unit.

Above the sink and freezer, the microwave is mounted in a cherry cabinet. Along the hullside are lockers which provide lots of storage as well as a built-in coffee maker plumbed into the boat’s fresh water system. Additional storage and a trash bin are found beneath the companionway steps. There one under-cabinet and two overhead lights, with two opening ports and an overhead hatch for additional light and ventilation.

Head: The head is on starboard at the base of the companionway. One common observation people have when they look at this boat is how large the head is- much larger than you expect to see in a 32’ boat. As you enter the sink is to your left, with a locker beneath it and a large mirror above. Ahead of you is the head, with a hamper locker behind it and a double door medicine cabinet above that. To your right is the separate shower stall, with a clear wall and self-latching door. There is a seat should you wish, with a watertight locker outboard of that. The shower itself is an adjustable sprayer wand on a bar for height adjustment. Each space has overhead lighting and an opening port; additionally, there are two lights over the mirror and an overhead hatch.

Bridge deck:  The bridge deck is air conditioned and features opposing cream Ultraleather settees, with storage beneath both. Uniquely designed helm and nav bench seats are height adjustable by means of rocker switches, providing perfect visibility and comfort no matter how tall the occupant is. When lowered completely, the backrests can be reversed to create a longer seating area for entertaining or two additional 6’ 4” long sleeping berths for guests. A removable varnished teak dinette table has a folding leaf for passage aft when in place and can comfortably seat six; it stows in a dedicated compartment beneath the starboard settee when not in use. The cabin sides above the settees are finished in teak, with cherry trim around the windows and the balance of the space; the cabin sole is teak and provides sure footing when underway. For natural ventilation, the forward center, port and starboard side windows all open. Hatches over the helm and nav seats open and have OceanAir sliding screen/shades. Additionally, the aft center enclosure panel is easily removed- or you can roll up the U-zip panel for a screened in back panel and great flow-through ventilation.

Cockpit: The aft cockpit area flows nicely from the bridge deck, creating great entertaining and lounging space. The bench seat has a removable center section to allow access to the center transom door, so it can also serve as two single seats if desired. There are cup holders and armrests on either end of the bench as well as a mounting location for the cockpit table, which can be stowed in a dedicated locker behind a watertight door. The teak swim platform has a swim ladder, so going for a dip is easy. Teak decking provides elegance and sure footing when under way.

  • Air conditioned throughout- below and on the bridge deck
  • Satin finished teak and holly cabin sole below
  • Satin finished cherry throughout
  • Raised panel solid cherry cabinet doors
  • Positive catch latches on all drawers and doors
  • Cream Ultraleather fabric on bridge deck, helm seats and headboard

Hull and Deck

The Mark Ellis designed Legacy 32 hull has classic downeast looks, but her underbody is anything but. The modified deep vee, wide chine and center flats makes her get up on plane in a hurry, handles the seas remarkably well and all the while giving you a smooth and stable ride. There is a full-length skeg that provides directional stablilty and protects the propeller and rudder.

The hull is constructed using Legacy’s Durahull technology. The deck, hull and all structural components are infused Vinyl ester construction and cored with Corecell. The centerline and leading edge of the keel are reinforced with Kevlar for impact resistance. All thru hull penetrations are designed to isolate the core materials from water penetration. Gelcoat is an ISO-NPG type. Underwater exhaust and bow thruster tube are molded into the hull.  Stringers are formed by a longitudinal and transverse molded framing grid constructed of FRP with reinforced engine area fully bonded to the hull. Three infused and cored composite structural bulkheads are bonded to the hull to form four compartments; the forepeak, main cabin, engine room and lazarette. The structural components are fully bonded together to create a uni-body boat construction. All engineering is done in accordance with NMMA using ABYC rules for small offshore vessels.  The bilges are finished in molded white gelcoat for easy maintenance. Throughout. Limber holes are installed throughout the stringer system to allow for drainage of all compartments with the exception of the engine sump. That area is sealed to isolate the machinery fluids from the bilge system.

Engine and Machinery

The engine and machinery room is accessed via a large insulated hatch with gas-assist lifts in the bridge deck floor. The hatch is gasketed and latched to seal sound in. The walls and overhead are completely sound insulated; additionally, all wire ways and cavities are foam filled to keep things extra quiet. The bilge beneath the engine is isolated from the other bilges to prevent machinery fluids from the rest of the bilges. Machinery is all vibration dampened to reduce noise. There is a seat/step on a pedestal base for ease of access.

Raw water intake is through dual 2” hull-mounted scoop strainers and bronze seacocks. Full flow inlets lead to large basket strainers with removable filter elements. Stainless steel sea chest has built-in winterizing ports and is fitted for optional crash pump. The dual inlet sea chest allows for the vessel’s intake filters to be changed without stopping vessel operation.
