What would happen if you gave one of the world's most respected small offshore cruising designs, built by the world's best production builder, to an experienced passionate Aussie woman from a renowned sailing family? What would happen if she had the toughest surveyor in town get on her boat every couple of years, and if following these inspections the boat had every single recommendation taken care of? How would such a boat sail? What would it be like to take this boat out cruising? What would it look like?
Please look carefully at the photos of "Ginger", this terrific pocket cruiser. She is a beautiful, swift, strong, and functional Pacific Seacraft Orion whose interior has been upgraded by her owner in the style of Captain Nat Herreshoff, with white flat surfaces and gloss bright finished handholds and edges. The cabin sole is clear gloss finished teak and holly. The clear finish, as opposed to the amber that one sees frequently, gives the holly a very pleasing almost white color. Any exposed hull sides have been finished in clear gloss teak staving. Her overall condition, excellent canvas, light and airy feel below (she is the only Orion to which those words apply), solid bronze ports and cleats, make her a unique treasure among boats in this price range.
She is seriously for sale due to owner relocation.

From the large comfortable cockpit very well suited to sleeping proceed down the companionway. To port is a 6'7" long quarter berth. This space is illuminated by an overhead light and an opening porthole. At the foot of the berth is a fairly large locker which makes a great space for storing sails or larger items. Above the forward end of the quarter berth is navigation storage for charts, logbooks etc. with beautiful gloss finished fiddles to keep everything where it belongs.
Next forward to port is a 6'7" long straight settee with storage behind and beneath it. Above it is fiddled shelving and a brass reading light. There is a custom table with two leaves and a wine compartment built into the center of the table.
Opposite the quarter berth is the L-shaped galley. There is a sink with dry storage behind it, shelves above that and a locker beneath the sink. Along the hull is the propane stove. There are bins below the stove, behind it and a large sliding door storage space above it. To the right of is a sizable 12 volt refrigerated compartment with shelving, spice rack, etc. above that.
Forward of the galley is the starboard straight settee. There is storage beneath and behind it, a fiddled shelf above that and another brass reading light.
The entire salon area is ventilated by six opening ports and two dorade mounted solar vents.
Moving into the forward cabin, there is a 6'2" long V berth. At the forward end is a louvered door to access the chain locker, though the chain drop actually goes beneath the berth to keep the weight low in the boat. Along both sides of the berth is a shelf. Beneath it are teak drawers and storage under the berth. On the starboard side is a cedar lined hanging locker with a fiddled shelf above that. On port is the head. Located between the V berth and the salon bulkhead, there is a drop down plywood cover that you lift to access the manual head. Behind and above is are two lockers. Ventilation and lighting to this cabin is provided by an overhead hatch, two opening ports and two brass reading lights.
