Description

This is the double companionway model of the classic Pearson 424.  It is an unusual layout.... a V-berth forward, 2 settees which pull out to make double berths in the main saloon and a private aft cabin with a large side entry (Pullman style) double.

The companionway in the cockpit leads into the aft cabin. The companionway on deck leads into the main salon so that the passengers/crew in the aft cabin can have complete privacy when off watch.

The Pearson 424s are proven, roomy, comfortable Bill Shaw designed passage makers which, notwithstanding their age, are still sailing all over the globe.

Pearson built more than 230 of these boats during their eight-year production run and her owners association is one of the largest in the U.S.

Accommodations

Plenty of light and ventilation from six opening ports and three large overhead hatches.  Owner's stateroom forward with large v-berth and amazing storage and a vanity counter & sink on port side.

The main saloon is next aft.  Two large comfortable settees flank a center-line double drop leaf table.  Both settees extend to create double sleeping berths.  Ample bookshelves and louvered locker storage are above and outboard of each settee.  Next aft is a full galley (port) and the auxiliary access to topsides (starboard).

Just before entering the aft cabin there is a large head to starboard with a separate shower stall.  The separate aft cabin offers direct access to the cockpit, a sizeable nav. station (starboard) and a spacious double-wide berth to port across from the nav. station.

Diesel heater in main salon.

Propane grill with two tanks in cockpit locker.

Additional Information

BANKROBBER is a large ketch designed by Bill Shaw to be sailed by one or two couples from New England to the Caribbean and back. She has a shallow draft and wide beam carried well aft with a lot of interior space, a private aft cabin, a stall shower and good ventilation .  Assuming everyone is willing to double up there are sleeping accommodations for 8 (2 on each extended settee, two in the forward V-Berth and two in the private aft cabin).  She would make a good vessel for charter work or a large group interested in a sailing adventure.

While there are some issues to be dealt with Bank Robber is a solidly built boat capable of going almost anywhere when properly outfitted and prepared.  Because of the various issues... hank on jib, winches are not self-tailing, the 120 volt electrical installation is not up to marine standards, older VHF radio, wheel pilot, depth, speed & log, the teak cap-rail is in need of repairs, some of the interior teak needs refinishing, etc. Bank Robber is offered well below the current selling price of Pearson 424s in better condition with more equipment, and better amenities.

The Seller has owned the boat for 10 years and lived aboard for 4years.  He loved sailing the boat and would only start the engine to put her in her slip. Unfortunately he now has to sell her and is willing to entertain all reasonable offers.

The Pearson Owners website  www.pearson424.org has a great deal of information about these boats.
