"VENTURE"
1986 Bristol 31.1 3'6" draft
Specifications
Description
The Bristol 31.1 combines the classically modern design collaboration of Ted Hood and Dieter Empacher with the meticulous craftsmanship of Bristol Yachts. One of the most renowned New England boat builders, Bristol Yachts were known and highly respected for their beautifully perfect teak joinery, wonderful fit and finish and quality of construction. It’s no small coincidence that, even to this day, people refer to a perfect yacht as being in “Bristol” condition.
This proven design epitomizes the obsessive concern for quality of workmanship and structural integrity built into every Bristol Yacht. The hull design with the tapered stern and overhangs gives the 31.1 a smoother, more seaworthy ride with a respectable motion comfort ratio of 29.28.
Our offering is a wonderful example of these fine yachts. One of a few built with the much-sought after keel/centerboard option, she is perfect for exploring the many shallow cruising grounds of the East Coast and Bahamas. Venture has lived and explored the waters from Maine to the Chesapeake. She has the optional tall teak toe rail with upgraded integral stainless steel chocks. This upgrade not only makes her more handsome than the standard model but safer on deck as well. Stainless steel dorades atop teak dorade boxes help complete this picture of classic elegance. Whether under sail, at anchor or coming into the yacht club, this little yacht’s graceful lines will turn heads and put a smile on the faces of those admiring her.
Venture's current owners have lovingly cared for her and kept her shiny and proud during their stewardship. They were unexpectedly presented with an opportunity to move up into another beautifully maintained 37’ yacht of close personal friends and with mixed emotions decided to do so. They sailed her to Annapolis and she now sits in our yard awaiting her new owners. She is certainly worthy of your inspection and won’t disappoint. Call for an appointment to come see her today!

Forward stateroom: Starting forward, there is a door for access to the chain locker. The 6’7” V berth has drawer and locker storage below it. Aft of it on starboard is a hanging locker, with a fiddled shelf above. On port is an entrance to the head. Both hullsides are lined with rich teak staving; above are shelves that run the length the length of the berth, with sliding rattan doors enclosing them. Headroom in this cabin is 6’2”.
