Description
--SHOAL DRAFT KEEL/CENTERBOARD--AC/HEAT--TWO CABINS--TWO HEADS--2500W INVERTER/CHARGER--RADAR--CHART PLOTTER--AUTOPILOT--MUCH MORE--
Built from 1986 until the close of Pearson Yachts in 1991, the Pearson 39-2 is considered Bill Shaw’s finest design. A performance-oriented cruiser, the MKII rig has a slightly taller mast and more ballast than her predecessor, providing superb handling characteristics under both sail and power. The keel/centerboard option is ideal for the shallow waters of the East Coast and Bahamas, yet provides great pointing and stability with the board down. The cockpit is large and ergonomically engineered for exceptional comfort and safety.
Below decks, the Pearson 39 has a huge interior for her size. The saloon has loads of seating for friends or family, the nav station is sized just right and with good storage and the galley is a boat chef’s delight, with good counter space and great refrigeration space and access. The two private cabins have good storage and the two heads are well laid out and spacious.
All in all, the Pearson 39-2 has a lot to offer and is a good choice for a couple or a sailing family. YES DEAR’s owners have decided it’s time to move onto other things, so sadly they are parting with her. This boat will provide a reliable and inexpensive option for sailing to any destination you dream. Call and make an appointment to see her today!
Details 1
Forward stateroom: There is a panel to access the chain locker forward, followed by the V berth that is 6’2” long. The center insert can be positioned down as a seat or up for a continuous berth space. There is drawer storage beneath the berth and cubby space above the berth along both hull sides. At the forepeak there is a fiddled shelf above the berth. Aft of the berth on starboard is a mirror, while on port there is a hanging locker with a fiddled shelf above aft and a two-drawer unit by the berth with a fiddled countertop. Headroom in this space is 6’2”; lighting and ventilation comes from two overhead hatches, an opening port, an overhead light and a 12v. fan
Forward Head: The ensuite head is located on starboard. As is the case with both heads on YES DEAR, the compartment is laminate and fiberglass with wood accents, making wipe-downs a snap. As you enter, the head is directly in front of you. There is a fold-down shower seat should you choose and a locker behind that. The sink is to your left; that countertop and sink unit are made of molded fiberglass, giving a smooth surface with no hard corners to collect dirt. There is a locker beneath the sink and a mirror above it. Along the hull side there is some counter space behind the head and sliding mirror doored storage above that. Headroom is 6’1”, with an overhead light, one hatch and an opening port providing light and ventilation. A bi-fold door closes this off from the stateroom.
Saloon: Moving aft into the saloon, there is a drop-leaf dinette table that can seat six. On port, there is a 7’ long settee with a fiddled shelf behind it. The aft end of that has space for bottle storage beneath it. Above and behind the settee are two full length sliding door cabinets. On starboard is a 7’ long C-shaped settee, which can be converted to a nice double berth when desired. There is storage beneath the ends as well as behind the seat back along the hull. A fiddled shelf is above and behind the seat back cushions, with two more sliding door cabinets above that, mirroring the port side.
There are four overhead lights and three LED reading lights. Addition lighting and ventilation is from two fixed lights, two opening ports, a dorade vent and one overhead hatch. Headroom in this area is 6’3”.
Nav station: The nav station is located on port and is forward facing. The cushioned seat has storage beneath it. The nav top is nicely sized and can readily accommodate a chart book, with good storage beneath it. Forward of the lid is a fiddled organizer shelf; beneath that is a stack of three drawers and a drop-front locker space. Along the hull at table top height is a shelf space. Above that are the electrical panels, all neatly organized. Electronics panels are above that. Behind the seat is a hanging locker with a fiddled shelf above it.
Aft head: Just back of the nav station is the aft head. Bright and spacious, the head is oriented fore and aft and is at the back of the space. Along the hull is the molded fiberglass counter and sink, with molded soap dishes, an organizer trough behind the sink for whatever you want and the signature Pearson hamper at the aft end. Above the counter are sliding mirrored door cabinets and there is a large mirror on port.
Galley: Located on starboard at the base of the companionway, the galley is J-shaped and well thought out, with Corian countertops neatly trimmed with teak fiddles. The short leg of the J is toward centerline, with a large refrigerated ice box. The access is by means of a hinged lid to minimize how much you have open at one time. The aft end of the lid is a top and front lid, so the access to the bottom of the box is easy- no feet in the air getting to the bottom of the box! Next is a large, forward facing sink, with a cabinet beneath it and a countertop insert for additional surface space when you want it. Next, between the sink and hull, is a dry box, with plenty of storage inside and a hinged, gas assisted lid. Moving around along the hull, there is a gimballed three burner stove and oven, with a locker beneath it. To the right of the stove there is a stack of three drawers and a locker.
Above the countertop along the hull, there is lots of shelf space with sliding doors; above that is open storage with organizer dividers- great for dish storage or whatever else you want at your fingertips. The space is well lit and ventilated, with three lights, an opening port and a dorade vent. Headroom is 6’2”.
Aft stateroom: The aft stateroom is located on starboard and aft of the galley. As you enter, there is a louvered door locker that was a hanging locker and has been converted to shelf storage, though it could easily be changed back. Just aft of that along the hull is a set of four drawers and two drop-front lockers, with a fiddled counter space above. Across from that is access to the back of the engine, with large engine box having fiddled surface above it. There is also cubby storage along the hull side. The berth is a comfortable 6’4” x 5’ x 42”. The space is open and well lit, with on overhead hatch, two opening ports, two reading lights and an overhead light.
