Details 1
Were one to travel the world in search of the world’s best boatbuilding facilities, a visit to the Hallberg-Rassy yard on the west coast of Sweden would be a must! Boat building has been a way of life in this "Bay of Kings" for centuries. It was here, in this boat-building bastion, that "Falconer," a Hallberg-Rassy 382, was constructed. Meticulously built with attention to every detail, this vessel holds the highest level construction certification from Lloyds of London and Hallberg-Rassy is featured in the classic survey of "The World's Best Sailboats" by Ferenc Mate.
Details 2
The H-R 382 is a very roomy 38' boat, with more hull volume than the newer series of Frers-designed Hallberg-Rassy's. The interior of "Falconer" is beautifully finished with hand rubbed mahogany, and teak and holly cabin sole. Workmanship is fastidious throughout. Although cruised, "Falconer" has been well cared for and shows quite respectably. She unquestionably appears better than her years and cruising history would suggest, a testament to the quality of construction and the care and maintenance bestowed on her by her owners.
Forwardmost is a locker, accessible from the foredeck and isolated from the rest of the boat, for storage of ground tackle. Just aft of this is a true V-berth with filler cushion, loads of storage above and below, and with access to the bow thruster and windlass motors. Next aft to port is a roomy head with combined toilet (generous 30 gal stainless steel holding tank), porcelain vanity sink and shower, and full wall mirror. Opposite the head are two good-sized hanging and shelved lockers.
The salon has port and starboard sofa berths which easily convert to over and under sea bunks. The portside L-shaped sofa is 7'; the starboard straight sofa is 6'8". Storage is available above, behind and below each sofa. A large fixed double drop leaf mahogany table is centerline. The companionway is amidship with L-shaped galley to starboard and a forward-facing nav desk to port. The nav desk is quite large with storage inside the desk and a series of drawers underneath.
There is a work space counter with additional storage just behind the nav station and under the nav seat. In the passageway is an oilskin locker outboard and excellent access to the engine room opposite under the cockpit. Engine room also has front access door under the companionway stairs for overall ease of maintenance.
The aft cabin has a double berth to starboard, a single berth to port with Individual clothes lockers built in on outboard sides and at foot of each berth, as well as another large hanging locker on port just aft of the passageway. Other interior features include removable overhead panels; excellent ventilation through four overhead hatches, ten opening ports, two dorade ventilators, two solar reversible ventilators, and 12V oscillating fans; foam-backed carpets; and privacy shades and screens for all hatches and ports. Upgraded blue cord upholstery is in very good condition in salon nav area, with all new upholstery in fore and aft berths. Ardic10 forced air cabin heater serves salon and aft cabin berth. Custom 4000 btu air conditioner installation (portable) cools salon & berths.
