"Wayward Wind"
1999 Pacific Seacraft Crealock 37
Specifications
Description
In the 33 years since the Crealock 37 was first introduced, it has proven itself countless times, in all corners of the world, to be the true world voyager that it is. It's solidly built to withstand the test of time and miles. Its excellent performance & balance, both upwind and downwind, in light as well as heavy air, is well established.
Famed author Ferenc Mate devoted an entire chapter in his book 'The Worlds' Best Sailboats', to Pacific Seacraft and stated ‘All the Crealock creations are aesthetically sophisticated, ideally proportioned and some of the best handling, most sea kindly boats in the world’.
Custom built for each owner, each Pacific Seacraft has a different number of options built into them. ‘Wayward Wind’ has more than one generally finds and has been constantly upgraded during the current owners’ stewardship. She has been their cruising home and sanctuary for a number of years now, but the time has come for them to move on to other things in life.
‘Wayward Wind’ represents a rare opportunity to own one of the finest examples of this famous Crealock design and she is ready to go cruising now- just put your gear on and go.
She is seriously for sale and definitely worth taking a personal look at!

Forward stateroom- Beginning in the forepeak, there is a double-door locker above (with access to the chain locker beneath that) at the foot of the 6'6” long berth. A fiddled shelf runs the length along the starboard side of the berth, while along the port side is a shelf with sliding door lockers beneath it. Aft of that and extending to the cabin door there is a large cedar lined hanging locker, with a mirrored locker forward of that above the berth. There is a copious amount of storage below the berth and behind and beneath the seat. The current owners opted to have a large teak bin drawer built to sit where the dressing seat space is (this is where their shoes live). Hinged, finished plywood sections have been fitted to cover that drawer as well as the rest of the berth, enlarging the sleeping space considerably and making it simpler to lift the mattress to access the below-berth storage spaces- no more trying to hold up a folding mattress. They have included wide web straps that attach to the overhead when raised, so your hands and body are free to access the storage lockers. Lighting and ventilation are in abundance, with an overhead hatch, a Hella fan, three opening ports, one overhead light and two reading lights. Lots of boats have dark forward staterooms, but this certainly isn't one of them!
Head- Located next aft to starboard, you will find a counter with a stainless steel sink, Scandvik shower mixer and a fresh water foot pump. There is louvered door storage behind the sink and head and also below the sink. A drop down teak seat is over the Groco manual head. There are several teak grab rails for safety, a large dressing mirror and a teak shower grate with sump. Ventilation and lighting come from a dorade vent, one opening port and an overhead light.
Saloon- To port is a 6'4" long settee with storage below it and behind it, and a teak planked magazine rack with two reading lights above that. Across on starboard is an L-shaped dinette with a drop leaf teak table. The table has center storage and removable fiddles. An insert can be put in to convert this to a comfortable 6'4" x 50" wide double berth. There is also storage below this seating, behind the seating and above that is a teak planked bookshelf with teak lockers on either end. On the forward starboard bulkhead is a two shelf bookcase and another, larger bookcase on the saloon side of the galley overhead cabinet. Two more reading lights are located on this side of the cabin. There are three Hella fans, two hatches, one dorade vent and six opening ports in the saloon and galley areas.
Galley- Aft of the dinette is the U-shaped galley. There is an overhead storage cabinet between the saloon and galley. Beneath that there are two deep stainless steel sinks, with hot and cold pressure water as well as salt and fresh water foot pumps and storage beneath them. Outboard of that there is a cutting board, which cleverly conceals a trash bin, with storage beneath the bin. A Force 10 stove is along the hull sides, with storage above and below it. Aft of that is a large icebox with refrigeration, with hinged lid access, lockers and drawers behind that and more teak louvered storage lockers above.
Nav station and quarter berth- Across on the port side is the nav station. The chart table is a comfortable size and has a custom tall back for mounting additional electronics. Above that is mounted the chartplotter/radar unit, which can be easily moved to the cockpit when desired. There is convenient access to Pacific Seacrafts' signature drop down electrical panel. A wet locker is located beneath the table and there is storage under the seat. The quarter berth behind that boasts a spacious 7' x 42" wide sleeping area and has a reading light and optional porthole for light and ventilation. There is an overhead chart book storage rack above the bunk.

When you step aboard a Pacific Seacraft, it is obvious why they have the excellent reputation that they do. There are substantial bulwarks with a heavy teak cap rail. The teak joints are hand fitted with butterfly joints. The 30" high, double lifeline stanchions are mounted on the bulwarks to resist moisture intrusion into the deck. The deck hardware is all larger than found on most vessels and is all chrome plated solid bronze- nothing but the best. The list goes on and on, reinforcing with every item the quality, strength and safety crafted into every boat.
