2001 Tartan 3500
Specifications
Description
THE OWNER WANTS THIS BOAT SOLD! THIS IS ARGUABLY THE NICEST 3500 ON THE MARKET!
First introduced in 1994, the Tartan 3500 is considered an ideal size for a family cruising boat with her open interior layout, wide side decks and of course, her outstanding performance. Besides being easily sailed, responsive, and well-mannered, she has had success in a number of fleets across the country.
The Tim Jackett designed Tartan 3500 is an excellent sailing machine. Her moderate beam and full ends, coupled with the shoal draft beavertail keel, provide excellent stability and sail carrying ability. The balanced spade rudder provides for fingertip control and excellent maneuverability, whether under sail or power. With a long water line, low wetted surface and powerful rig, the Tartan 3500’s inherent speed is within reach of both the cruiser and club racer, offering fast passages and competitive race performance.
The Tartan 3500 deck is designed to maximize comfort, safety and function. Wide side decks and shrouds set inboard afford easy passage fore and aft and allow tight sheeting angles for upwind sailing performance.
Commissioned in 2001, our offering offers attractive traditional styling, excellent performance, surprisingly large accommodations and the quality construction and finish that have earned Tartan the reputation they have enjoyed for many years.
Pelican" is very well equipped for cruising with air conditioning, refrigeration, electric swim platform, autopilot, radar, chart plotter and much more- in addition to the very comfortable accommodations below decks. The thirteen opening ports, two dorades and two large deck hatches offer plenty of air when at the dock or at anchor. She has been extremely well maintained and is a very clean boat that is sure to impress you.
"Pelican”, hull number 128 of around 140, has served her caring owners well. They have invested extensively in her, are meticulous caregivers and it shows. They are now ready to pass her stewardship along as they move on to their next adventure. With all of her features and showing as she does she won't last long. Details 1
Forward stateroom: Starting forward, the berth features a custom 5” mattress measuring 76” x 23” x 80”. There are storage bins beneath it and a set of four large drawers. There is a molded in non-skid step on either side to make getting in and out of the bunk even easier. On port is a hanging locker and on starboard a locker with shelves; both have fiddled shelves above them that continues forward along the hullsides. The overhead hatch has a cherry framed screen that is hinged for convenience. Two opening ports and a Caframo fan provide additional ventilation, while the natural lighting is augmented by an overhead light and two brass reading lights. Headroom in this stateroom is 6’1”. In addition, a raised panel window can be opened between the forward berth and the saloon, creating a more open feeling and allowing for even better air flow through the boat.
Saloon: Moving aft into the saloon, the cherry dinette table is on centerline and has two large drop leaves, storage beneath the top and two drawers on the aft end. The starboard settee is L-shaped and has storage beneath and behind it. A flip-out surface easily converts this into a double berth. A cherry fiddled shelf is directly behind the seat back, while above it is a fiddled book shelf and two drop front lockers; one with shelves and the other with bottle storage.
Across on port is straight settee. Behind this seat is storage with a fiddled cherry shelf immediately above and behind that. Above that are a fiddled book shelf forward, a drop front locker in the center and shelves with a raised panel door at the back end.
Height in the saloon is 6’4”. Ventilation in the saloon and galley area consists of an overhead hatch with a hinged cherry frame screen, a dorade vent, a Caframo fan and six opening ports with screens. There are two brass reading lights and six overheads lights, making the space very bright and open feeling.
Galley: Located on starboard and aft of the saloon settee, this galley has enough counter space to satisfy almost every maritime gourmet cook. Tim Jackett’s wonderfully innovate use of soft angles in his spaces
The large extra deep sink is angled and on centerline, eliminating water in the sink when you are heeled. There is a locker beneath the sink. To the right of this is a top and front loading refrigerated icebox, with a substantial amount of counter space above. Along the hullside, next is the Force 10 stove and oven, gimballed and with pot and pan storage space beneath it. Aft of the stove is a lift-up top with a garbage bin beneath; in front of that is a cabinet with shelves to the right of the oven door.
Above all of this and along the hull are shelves behind a set of double doors, a locker with a single door and three drawers.
Nav station: The nav station is aft facing and behind the galley. Theseat is large and comfortable, with storage space beneath it. The chart table is quite large and has plenty of storage beneath it. Electronics and electrical panels are conveniently located in front and to the side of you and are mounted on hinged panels, so access for servicing is about as convenient as it gets. There is an opening port, providing ventilation and an easy way to communicate with the helmsperson.
Head: The head is on port and at the base of the companionway. The compartment is of molded fiberglass, making cleanup a breeze. The sink and head space are separated from the separate shower stall by a smoked Plexiglas panel and bi-fold door. As you enter, the sink and head are in front of you, with the sink to the left. The Corian countertop has cherry fiddles and there are storage lockers above and below the sink. Above the head is a mirror, which is hinged and cleverly tips out from the bottom so that you can actually see yourself while standing up. The shower compartment has a seat, shower wand on an adjustable height bar and a cabinet with shelves behind the seat. There are two opening ports, a dorade vent and two overhead lights.
Aft stateroom: Located on port and aft of the head, the large double berth is oriented fore to aft. A padded backrest with a fiddled shelf behind it is along the hullside, making a good place to prop up with a book and read. There is a good amount of storage beneath the berth and a hanging locker with a fiddled shelf above that. Headroom back here is a surprisingly good 6’2”. There are two opening ports, a Caframo fan, two overhead lights and one reading light make the space well ventilated and bright.
